Live Your Dream Education & Training Awards for Women
AS SOROPTIMISTS, OUR DREAM IS TO
HELP WOMEN AND GIRLS WORLD-WIDE BY:

- Ending Violence Against Women and Girls
Live Your Dream
Over half of the Soroptimist International Live Your Dream Awards recipients are survivors of domestic violence, trafficking or sexual assault. Nearly all of the women and families we serve have overcome enormous obstacles including poverty, teen pregnancy, and drug or alcohol addiction. Live Your Dream Award recipients may use the cash award to offset any costs associated with their efforts to attain higher education, such as books, childcare, tuition and transportation.
Each year, more than $2.8 million in education grants are disbursed through the Live Your Dream Awards program to over 1,700 women, many of whom have overcome enormous obstacles including poverty, domestic violence, the death of a spouse, and/or substance abuse. Each Soroptimist Club will give at least one LYD award each year that is eligible to compete for a Regional and possibly an international award.
TENTATIVE TIMELINE - subject to change!
August 15, 2024 -- Portal Opens for Applications of the Soroptimist International Live Your Dream Awards.
November 15, 2024 -- Deadline for online applications
January, 2025 -- Applicant Interviews
March, 2025 - Live Your Dream Awards Luncheon and Recognition Event
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
You are eligible to apply for the Soroptimist Live Your Dream Awards if you are a woman who:
- Provides the primary financial support for yourself and your dependents. Dependents can include children, spouse, partner, siblings and/or parents.
- Has financial need.
- Is enrolled in or has been accepted to a vocational/skills training program or an undergraduate degree program.
- Is motivated to achieve your education and career goals.
- Has not previously been the recipient of a Soroptimist Live Your Dream Award.
- Does not have a graduate degree.
- Is not a Soroptimist member, an employee of Soroptimist International of the Americas or immediate family of either.
Preparing your application
Here are a few things you can do to prepare your application:
- Plan who your references will be ... they can be mentors, teachers, counselors, supervisors, colleagues, or case managers.
- Draft your personal statement: The Live Your Dream Awards are all about helping women who have faced obstacles on the path to living their dreams. In 750 words or less, tell us how you think this could help you live your dream.
- Mark your calendar……application deadline is November 15.
