Live Your Dream Education & Training Awards for Women
and will reopen on July 15, 2019
The Soroptimist Live Your Dream Award is intended to assist women who provide the primary source of financial support for their families by giving them the resources needed to improve their education, skills and employment prospects.
Each year, more than $2 million in education grants are awarded to more than 1,200 women, many of whom have overcome enormous obstacles including poverty, domestic violence and/or drug and alcohol abuse. Live Your Dream Award recipients may use their cash award to offset any costs associated with their efforts to attain higher education, such as books, childcare, tuition
The program begins on the local club level, where award amounts vary. Club recipients become eligible to receive region-level monetary awards, which are granted through Soroptimist’s 28 geographic regions. Region-level award recipients then become eligible to receive one of three $10,000 finalist awards at the international level.
On a local level, Soroptimist International of the Greater Bremerton Area will provide multiple awards of varying amounts for the 2018-2019 program year.
Women are eligible to apply if they:
o Provide the primary financial support for themselves and their dependents. Dependents can include children, spouse, partner, siblings and/or parents.
o Have financial need.
o Are enrolled in or have been accepted to a vocational/skills training program or an undergraduate degree program.
o Are motivated to achieve their education and career goals.
o Reside in one of Soroptimist International of the Americas’ member countries/territories.
o Have not previously been the recipient of a Soroptimist Women’s Opportunity or Live Your Dream Award.
o Do not have a graduate degree.
o Are not a Soroptimist member, an employee of Soroptimist International of the Americas or immediate family member of either.
o Have a Social Security number or Tax ID number (for tax purposes only and are a resident of the United States. Applicants will not be asked to share this information unless they have been given an award).
