Soroptimist International of Greater Bremerton Area (SIGB) is very active in our local community -- our service area being Bremerton and Silverdale. Currently, we offer the following --

Women Helping Women
Launched in late 2016, Women Helping Women is SIGB's newest service project aimed at helping women achieve their career and life goals through mentorship and support. During the first year of the program, our members met with and provided support to 6-8 women attending and on a career path at Olympic College. The program is now in its 2nd year and thriving.
Dream It, Be It Career Support for Girls (learn more)
Dream It, Be It: Career Support for Girls helps girls grow up to be strong, successful, happy adults, targeting girls in secondary school who face obstacles to their future success.
In July 2015, the club launched it's first career support program, partnering with Washington Youth Academy. Established under authority of both federal and state law, Washington Youth Academy is a state-run residential and post-residential intervention program for youth who have dropped out of high school or are at risk of dropping out.
Following specific curriculum and guidelines, club members provided career support and mentoring to eight female students at Washington Youth Academy, culminating in commencement exercises on December 19, 2015.
The club continued its partnership with Washington Youth Academy in the subsequent year that began in January 2016.
Four times annually, we select a not-for-profit, charitable organization in our service area to be the beneficiary of a mission-in-service project. Our members provide volunteer support or offer monetary or in-kind contributions that fill a specific need. Organizations that have benefitted from our mission-in-service projects include, but are not limited to, the following --
Foster Care Association - Infant/Toddler supplies
YWCA Alive Shelter - Undergarments for Women
Elder and Adult Day Services - Holiday Gifts for Intellectually Disabled Women
Georgia's House - Basic Care and Hygiene Products
Coffee Oasis - Cold Weather Gear
Salvation Army - Hygiene Products
At our monthly program and membership meetings, we often invite a guest speaker from a community service organization to share information about their organization and programs that benefit our community. This is an opportunity for our members and guests to learn more about community resources that are available. Recent visits include --
West Sound Program for Women & Children
Girls on the Run
Art SLAM Studio
YWCA of Kitsap County
Kitsap Food Backpacks 4 Kids
Catholic Community Services
