PROGRAMS

Soroptimist International of Greater Bremerton Area (SIGB) is very active in our local community. Our service area is Central Kitsap, Bremerton and Silverdale and currently we offer the following:

Live Your Dream: Education and Training Awards for Women (learn more)

The Soroptimist Live Your Dream Awards (formerly the Women’s Opportunity Awards) assists women who provide the primary source of financial support for their families by giving them the resources they need to improve their education, skills and employment prospects.

Anti-Human Trafficking Initiative (learn more)

SIGB is very active in the community and works diligently with other service organizations to help educate our local communities and raise awareness about human trafficking and its existence. We invite your participation in our efforts to help put an end to human trafficking.

Women 4 Women

Launched late 2016, Women 4 Women (formerly Women Helping Women) is SIGB's newest service project aimed at helping women achieve their career and life goals through mentorship and support. At the onset, club members met regularly with, offered support to, and mentored women attending and on a career path at Olympic College. The program, now in its 4th year, is open to all women in need of this form of support. If you are interested in learning more, please contact us.

Dream It, Be It Career Support for Girls (learn more)

Dream It, Be It: Career Support for Girls helps girls grow up to be strong, successful, happy adults, targeting girls in secondary school who face obstacles to their future success.

In the first 2 years of Dream It, Be It, we partnered with Washington Youth Academy. Established under authority of both federal and state law, Washington Youth Academy is a state-run residential and post-residential intervention program for youth who have dropped out of high school or are at risk of dropping out. Following specific curriculum and guidelines, our members provided career support and mentoring to female students at the academy.

Currently, another Dream It, Be It project is in the works and we are excited about partnership possibilities. We encourage you to check back often for updates.

Mission-In-Service

Three or four times annually, we select not-for-profit, charitable organizations in our service area to be the beneficiary of a mission-in-service project. Our members provide volunteer support or offer monetary or in-kind contributions that fill a specific need.
