Soroptimist International of
Greater Bremerton Area

PROGRAMS

Soroptimist International of Greater Bremerton Area (SIGB) is very active in our local community. Our service area is Central Kitsap, Bremerton and Silverdale and currently we offer the following:

Live Your Dream: Education and Training Awards for Women (learn more)

The Soroptimist Live Your Dream Awards (formerly the Women’s Opportunity Awards) assists women who provide the primary source of financial support for their families by giving them the resources they need to improve their education, skills and employment prospects.

Anti-Human Trafficking Initiative (learn more)

SIGB is very active in the community and works diligently with other service organizations to help raise awareness about human trafficking and its existence here in the State of Washington (even in Kitsap County) and beyond. We invite your participation in our efforts to raise awareness and put an end to human trafficking.

Women 4 Women

Launched late 2016, Women 4 Women (formerly Women Helping Women) is SIGB's newest service project aimed at helping women achieve their career and life goals through mentorship and support. On a regular basis, our members meet with, support, and mentor women attending and on a career path at Olympic College. The program, now entering its 4 year, is open to all women in need of this form of support. If you are interested in learning more, please contact us.

Dream It, Be It Career Support for Girls (learn more)

Dream It, Be It: Career Support for Girls helps girls grow up to be strong, successful, happy adults, targeting girls in secondary school who face obstacles to their future success.

In July 2015, the club launched it's first career support program, partnering with Washington Youth Academy. Established under authority of both federal and state law, Washington Youth Academy is a state-run residential and post-residential intervention program for youth who have dropped out of high school or are at risk of dropping out.

Following specific curriculum and guidelines, club members provided career support and mentoring to eight female students at Washington Youth Academy, culminating in commencement exercises on December 19, 2015.

The club continued its partnership with Washington Youth Academy in the subsequent year that began in January 2016.

Please check back for updates on current Dream It, Be It projects.
